October 17th

Reading: This week our main focus was readers notice how authors make them react when they read. We also learned about how to generate questions before, during, and after reading. Please continue to encourage your child to read at home.

Science: We built our prototypes and then we turned them into working tools. Our class had a lot of fun testing them to see how well they dug up “dinosaur bones.” The students really enjoyed building and testing their tools. We had many successful tools.

Writing: This week we wrote an entire personal narrative from introduction to conclusion using the skills we have learned about this quarter. Making sure we stayed on topic had a powerful introduction, a few body pages, and a strong conclusion were just a few things we tried to remember while working on our stories.

Math: This week we took our first math test over chapter one and started chapter 2. We have learned about skip counting on a hundreds chart and skip counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.
