August 25th

Reading: This week we have read many back to school books, to name a few, All Are Welcome, This is the Teacher, and School's First Day. We have used these books to discuss and learn about our second grade expectations and rules in and out of the classroom.  We have also began building our independent reading stamina.  

Another focus has been on reviewing short vowel sounds and having discussions that answer questions during our read aloud books. 

Writing: In writing this week we have learned how to write complete sentences, and we have focused on using capital letters and correct punctuation.  

Math:  In math this week we have been learning math games that we will use during our independent math time and we have been learning the routines and procedures of our math time.  Next week we will do a diagnostic testing on iReady and then begin Unit 1, Lesson 1. 

*When we start a new Lesson, your child will bring home a letter from our math book explaining what we are learning and ways to practice at home.  

Social Studies: We have been learning our classroom, school, and technology rules.  As well as, learning about each other to build our classroom community.
