January 14th

Reading & Writing:

This week we started our new unit. This unit is called “Solving Problems Through Technology.” This unit will focus on Nonfiction stories. Our first story was called “A Woman with Vision.” We talked about making inferences, and identifying the main topic.

We began learning how to write in cursive! A few of the letters we have been practicing include: e, l, i, t, and o.

Math:

This week we learned about place value of three digit numbers. Students are learning how to write numbers in different ways using: word form, place value charts, expanded form, and place value blocks.

Social Studies:

We are learning about different regions and the natural resources that can be found in those areas. So far we have learned about the Northeast, Southeast and Plains regions. We have learned about the food, shelter, landforms, transportation, and clothing of the Native Americans in these regions.

We are in need of shoeboxes for our upcoming social studies project. If you have any you can donate, please send those to school. We also are looking for donations of supplies to make our projects. (See below)
