Social Studies:

We took all of our notes and made flip books about Native Americans. Then, students conducted research with their partners and created a plan for how they began constructing a diorama of a Native American region to show what they have learned. They are excited about their projects!

Reading & Writing:

This week we read the story Two Famous Inventors. We continued to work on the skills of finding the main topic of each paragraph, using text features, and identifying the author’s purpose. For phonics, we are learning about the vowel teams oi and oy.

During writing time, we wrote the two body paragraphs for our opinion pieces. Students are working hard on making sure they have a topic sentence, supporting details, and a closing sentence for each paragraph.

Math:

This week we learned how to skip count larger numbers by fives, tens, and hundreds. We are also working on using mental math to add or subtract 10 or 100 to a given number.
